Long Peak may not be the highest peak in Colorado, but it's definitely the most popular. Situated in the middle of Rocky Mountains National Park this mountain really dominates the sky, high above the neighboring mountains. The normal route (Keyhole) is not very difficult, but it's quite demanding in terms of distance and altitude.

Aspen is worldwide famous because of skiing. The Maroon Bells are maybe less known by foreigners, but most Americans will recognize these peaks as the most beautiful in the States together with Denali, Mt Rainier and the Tetons. I failed to bring sufficient equipment for this climb, hence I summited late in the afternoon in a terrible thunderstorm. My worst experience ever......(this article is in Norwegian language only)

I spent 4-5 days and nights on Beachcomber Island (Fiji) together with some other backpackers. The tiny island didn't offer much more than beach life, snorkeling, scuba diving and endless parties, but it was outrageous fun.....

I just spent a few days in Australia on my world around trip. I flew into Sydney, continued on to Canberra and then to Thredbo, where I easily hiked up to Mount Kosciuszko (2228m), the highest mountain in mainland Australia.

Bali is certainly more than beautiful beaches and exciting nightlife. Bali also offer stunning sceneries with several volcanoes rising high above the lush green landscape and endless rice fields. In addition there are spectacular temples built on steep cliffs, and last but not least, Bali has a lot of art and culture to explore.

After a successful climb of Lobuje East (6.119m), the majority chose to go down to lower altitude in Pheriche (4240 m) to rest and recover before the climb of Island Peak.

The first time I visited Nepal, in the autumn of 2000, I was mainly trekking at altitudes up to a maximum of 5.400 meters. When I returned to Nepal in the spring of 2001, I had only one wish; to get higher.

India was the start of my 11 months of backpacking around the world. Even though some people advised me to choose an easier country to start with, I didn't listen. I probably had some regrets the first few days in India. But despite of all the hassles, my passion for India only grew day by day. I'll be back....

Annapurna Circuit is a nearly 300 kilometres walk arround the gigantic 8000m peaks of Annapurna. I did it together with Bjarne, Trine, Runhild, Mona and Neil (in addition to one guide and 3 porters from Nepal) in the autumn of 2000.
